Between Mountains

Mt. Lishan also in the aborigine tongue as Mt. Slamaw is home to aboriginal tribes with multi-ethnic groups. Situated in the mountainous area in mid-Taiwan, beautiful mountain scenery with pleasant weather all year round is famous for its pear, peach, and apple production. In 1992 a major earthquake had structured the Lishan area and destroy the major road connections to all other main cities, hence devasted the economic livelihood. An art campaign collaborated with tourism has curated ”Between Mountains” by using art installations over the Lishan in 4 areas. Artists drawing inspirations from 4 different tribal areas and by using natural materials in those places and studying the aboriginal crafting techniques and tattoo designs.
